Sapienza tries to ensure that a healthy work – life balance is provided for all its employees. Sponsoring the Romanian food stand at ESTEC’s Fun Day, on the 21st of June, fits within that goal. Along with the sponsorship, Sapienza volunteers were also happy to help organise and participate in this special yearly event.
The food fair was an extraordinary success and included traditional dishes and drinks from Romania, Ireland, Belgium, Portugal, Germany as well as home-made beer from the ESTEC Beer Club and products from the ESTEC Gardening Club. In a joyful atmosphere staff members and contractors together with their families experienced a culinary journey across Europe, tasting the best national dishes of each participating country.
The Romanian Team cooked a complete traditional menu, which included starters (aubergine and mashed beans with garlic and caramelized onion sauce salads), main courses (“sarmale”: a sour cabbage roll stuffed with spicy meat and rice; with hot polenta, cooked on the spot; “mici”: grilled spiced minced meat) as well as a wide range of home-made desserts.
The stand and the tasty home-made food were so popular that the team earned 1140 euro. They donated all of it to the ESA Humanitarian Relief Fund.
