Vacancy GNSS and SBAS Tools Engineer (for EGNOS)




Sapienza Consulting is recruiting for a GNSS and SBAS Tools Engineer to support the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) in France, Toulouse. The incumbent will be expected to support the institution through will be technical support in the area of GNSS and SBAS tools environment development and in particular for ionosphere effects on GNSS signals and associated SBAS processing.


Responsibilities of the GNSS and SBAS Tools Engineer:

  • Engineering Support to the administration, management, development, installation, testing and critical assessment of the EGNOS Project Office System Performance Simulation Environment, including tools assessment and recommendations
  • Engineering Support to the management and critical assessment of internal configuration of simulation tool
  • Engineering Support to the management of the EGNOS Project Office System Performance Tools Roadmaps
  • Engineering Support to the management of several R&D projects related to GNSS SIS monitoring and EGNOS SIS Threat analysis and characterisation
  • Engineering Support to the preparation and validation of System Performance-related Customer Furnished Items and delivery to EGNOS V2/V3/Evolutions Contractor(s) (e.g. representative raw-data generated scenarios, generation of amplitude and phase scintillation models)
  • Engineering Support to System Performance Engineering analyses based on simulations
  • Engineering Support to the coordination with respect to System Performance Tools related subjects:
    • modelling of the System environment and GNSS propagation signals using state-of- the-art software tools and databases
    • modelling of ionospheric propagation conditions and their effects on SBAS satellite navigation missions
  • Support the definition of campaigns to serve R&D and other EGNOS project needs (e.g. for scintillation monitoring and GNSS SIS threat monitoring)
  • Engineering Support to the review of Industry performance related technical documents
  • Participation and contribution to multi-modal (e.g. Aviation, Maritime) GNSS standardisation groups for what concerns System Performance modelling and processing
  • Engineering support to several projects, the service provider will attend project reviews for EGNOS (e.g. V2/V3 system and sub-system reviews at algorithm level)
  • Support the System Engineering Requirements Management processes

Profile of the GNSS and SBAS Tools Engineer:

 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, physics or Computer science with proven knowledge
  • At least 4 years of previous relevant practical working experience
  • Practical experience in the fields of Algorithms, Navigation and related data
  • Knowledge and experience in EGNOS System environment modelling and performance related tools (e.g. RDG, Ionospheric Az-STEC converters etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience in EGNOS SIS Threat modelling and characterisation
  • Knowledge and experience in EGNOS system performance related design & justification
  • Knowledge and experience in the analysis, architecture and development of software-based solutions
  • Knowledge and experience in Python, Java, C++ and Shell scripting/programming
  • Knowledge and experience in GNSS signals, receivers and R&D projects
  • Knowledge and experience in JIRA software
  • Knowledge and experience in Git version control system
  • Knowledge and experience in UNIX/Linux operating systems
  • Good knowledge of MS office tools
  • Good knowledge of DOORs
  • Experience in virtualization technology,
  • Experiences in procurement of industrial activities
  • Autonomy in writing technical notes, specifications and reports in English
  • Good inter personal skills and team spirit
  • Previous working experience in a multinational environment
  • Organization, good practical sense, being able to work effectively in a team and be able to autonomously take decision in his field of responsibility;
  • Availability and willingness to travel for missions inside or outside Europe
  • Excellent knowledge of English
  • Fluent in oral French is desirable; knowledge of another ESA member-state language is an asset
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.
