Government Space Institutions
For over 15 years Sapienza has been working with government organisations, such as the European Space Agency, in providing ECSS standard Project Management and Product Assurances applications. These solutions have delivered support to over 20 ESA-led space missions including: Mars Express, Rosetta, Herschel, Planck, Exomars, Columbus, ATV, Galileo, Earth Explorer missions, ENVISAT, GOCE, SMOS and Vega.
Alongside this we also provide a further range of software development services that help the various ESA programmes maximise their visibility.

Sapienza has launched a number of ESA scientific and technical websites aimed at providing information on ESA satellites missions and scientific results. Most of the sites we have implemented for ESA included large space imagery gallery, technical and missions documentation, data archives, scientific news reports, as well as access to some specific software tools to facilitate the utilisation, viewing and processing of ESA data.
- Earthnet Online
- Science and Technology
- European GNSS Supervisory Authority (GSA)
- IPCC Climate Change Reports 2007
Earthnet Online is the entry point for scientific-technical information on Earth Observation activities by the European Space Agency (ESA). The web portal provides a vast amount of content, grown and collected over more than a decade: Detailed technical information on Earth Observation (EO) missions, satellites and sensors, EO data products & services, on-line resources such as catalogues and library, a section dedicated to applications of satellite data, and access to promotional satellite imagery.
In May 2004, Sapienza won a contract to provide technical and editorial support to the website. The main objective of the site was to give more visibility to space missions that the Earth Observation Department was overseeing and to improve the accessibility of the data products available to the user communities.

The ESA SciTech website fills a natural gap in the ESA science web structure by reaching out to the informed scientific community. It serves to support the ongoing science missions of the European Space Agency of which there are currently 12 active missions, with more scheduled for launch in the next few years.
Since this was a new website, Sapienza had the task of both designing & creating the site, and then to operate and continue to develop the site once live. This task brought together a team of people from a range of backgrounds: science experts, graphics experts, designer, programmers and web infrastructure.

We also service the wider space industry when it comes to Space outreach. Sapienza has successfully launch the European GNSS Supervisory Authority (GSA) website whose main goal is to manage the public interests related to the European GNSS programmes and to be the regulatory authority for it.

Sapienza also offer web services to UN organisations involved in climate change such as the Word meteorological Organisation (WMO). Ahead of the Climate Change Conference in December 2009 Sapienza developed for the UN organisation a custom web search facility allowing users to search and browse on the web a number of critical Assessment Reports on Climate Change published by the IPCC.

The Verification Control System (VCS) is a web based application developed by Sapienza for managing and auditing key project hardware design and technology requirements.
The ESA Innovation Triangle Initiative https://iti.esa.int is a technology tendering system developed by Sapienza whereby companies can submit proposal for evaluation regarding ideas for products, processes or services which are potential candidate for technology innovation.
The Standard Technology Activity Template (STAT) system is a web application developed by Sapienza which allows ESA experts to propose activity proposals for either TRP or GSTP.
ESTER (European Space Technology Requirements database) is a database in which European missions and technology requirements are gathered and prioritized from all ESA Directorates, National Delegations, EC and the space industry.
