Non-Conformance Tracking System

Going to space is by its very nature complex, costly and involves thousands of highly skilled professionals working harmoniously. To avoid flaws and problems that could never be fixed once in orbit, it is critical to ensure that even the smallest part is manufactured properly to do its job—in space, you do not get a second chance.

Quality management and assurance is critical otherwise the whole spacecraft may fail. To that extent, Sapienza has developed a unique space oriented non-conformance tracking tool (NCTS).

NCTS is an ECSS compliant web based application designed for the recording, reporting and reviewing of Non-Conformances (NCs) raised against any space products. It implements the process and requirements specified in ECSS-Q-ST-10-09C (Non-Conformance Control System).

The application is designed to help projects effectively manage the quality assurance hierarchies existing between contractors and sub-contractors operating within a space programme through a centralised repository of all non-conformance issues.

The system ensures a faster review of NCRs and reduces the chances of NCRs being overlooked and therefore not dispositioned as the close-out process of the NCR is only performed by authorised users (Product Assurance officer).
