Sapienza at the VSV Symposium at TU Delft
The goal of the Symposium was to initiate a discussion about the current trends in the sizing of modern spacecraft. The proponents of compact design such as ISIS and Luxspace who are now among the most innovative CubeSat builders in Europe, brought forward their arguments in favour of miniaturisation, while ESA and Airbus speakers presented a different but not a mutually exclusive point of view. Bottom-line, both large and small spacecraft are economically feasible, perhaps the best approach is to strive for a golden middle.
For Sapienza, the event provided a field for a great networking and a chance to connect to some of the leaders of the SmallSat world. In addition there was a lot of interest in Sapienza as the students from TU Delft were eager to get connected with space industry players in attendance.
We return to the office with even stronger insight into spacecraft scaling trends and a hefty stack of academic and commercial contacts.
